After the plays Home Sweet Home (2016) and Hello Goodbye Comeback (2016 – 2017), this third and last part of wideside project led by the Compagnie Theater Traverse, brings young people and professional artists together on stage.
The subjects they worked on during their rehearsal were linked to the diverse origins of the performers, to their traditions, childhood souvenirs, habits, rites and customs.
The term MALAIKA, a swahili and arab word for angel or good spirit, served as a red wire for the working process.
In a process of collective creativity, the performers researched about those different subjects, with the goal to create their own story; a story told via various artistic forms: percussion, storytelling, african dance as well as elements from Performance Art.
At the end of this common path: a fictional story, invented and adapted by the whole cast:
Jo, his sister Kadija and their common friend Malaika grow up together in a small peaceful village, a village “where children can still be children”. One day, their childhood comes to a brutal end…
